What to See and Do Around India's Corbett National Park

A visit to India's Corbett National Park is only a two day affair, provided you are not planning to go for excursions, which are, if not more, as exciting and enchanting as the jeep safari in Corbett Park.

There are so many other places to be seen around the Corbett National Park that one is tempted to increase the stay duration at Corbett resorts by another two days at least. Hence, if you’re planning a four-five days trip to Corbett, here are the places you definitely need to visit.

1.    The Sitabani Ashram: It is believed that this is the place where Sita stayed during her exile and raised her sons Luv and Kush. It is located at a very scenic spot and is definitely a contrast to one’s luxurious resort in Corbett. The Sitabani temple has a white stone statue of Sita without Rama, holding her sons.

2.    The Corbett Museum: Located around 32 kms from Ramnagar, on Nainital road, the museum has things associated with the man, Jim Corbett himself. This place is known as Kaladungi. En-route to Kaladungi are Corbett Falls, which is an excellent picnic spot.

3.    The Garjia Temple: On way to Dhikala, about 3 kms from the Corbett wilds, there’s a huge rock emerging out of the river Kosi and on top is situated the Garjia Devi temple. A place for worshipping, it also gives one a mesmerizing view of river Kosi. A large fair is also held here on Kartik Poornima.

4.    Tumaria Dam: It’s around forty-five minutes drive from Corbett. The trip will prove educational for children as well as adults as there are a lot of migratory birds that flock to this place.

5.    Nainital, Ranikhet and Almora: Nainital is roughly 65 kms from Corbett and therefore takes around one hour and 15 minutes to reach there from Corbett. Hence, can be easily managed. It’s a hill station with the beautiful Naini lake. Ranikhet is roughly 120 kms and Almora is 125 kms from Corbett. Both Almora and Ranikhet boast of the picturesque and breathtaking views of the snow covered Himalayas.

A visit to the Corbett National park doesn’t have to be limited to the jungle safari but a lot many places are equally worth visiting, which are only a few hours away from Corbett. One can make one’s chosen resort in Corbett national park as a hub and visit all the above places. Hence, the longer the duration of your trip to Corbett, the better it is.

I've been to India and india is a big place, it must be the size of Brazil, so I didn't know where Corbett National Park is. And I had to look it up because you never say in the story where it is. I didn't know if there are still tigers there either because you show tigers in the picture but you never mention them one way or the other. So I googled that too. This is good because you made me curious enough to look up these things but it would be better for readers like me if this info was here in the story.
