So you need to go to the airport, your researching your options and you are not sure which option to choose. Well this article outlines some honest experiences that my passengers have shared with me, experiences that have swayed their decision towards premier airport transfers rather than the other options available.

So what options do you have when heading to the airport?

1: Airport Taxi Transfer
2: Bus
3: Train
4: Self Drive - Meet and Greet Parking
5: Self Drive - Park at Airport Direct
6: Self Drive - Park in a nearby car park.

There may be more options than mentioned above but I think the list covers the main ones. Now each method has its own merits and personal preference would help you choose what suits you. If you are about spending as little as possible then getting a bus is the obvious choice but you also need to factor into the fare the price of getting to the bus. The train system in the UK is simply expensive and continuing to rise and of course as with a bus you still have to get to the train in the first place, something which can be no mean feat when dragging the luggage required for the average holiday with you.

But my main reason for writing today is to compare airport taxi transfers to the various self-drive options out there. The first thing to remember is that your safety is the number one priority and I have lost track of the amount of passengers I have collected from long haul flights that simply would be in no fit state to drive. People forget that flying is a tiring experience and changing time zones really takes it out of you, the last thing you want to do is sit you and your family in your car and race down the motorway exhausted. 95% of all my morning flights sit back in the car and simply drift off to sleep letting me get on with driving them home safely.

When you compare prices on a two week holiday the prices really start to stack up, if you intend on parking directly at the airport then an airport taxi transfer service can save you money. I have had passengers on board that say they simply would never use any of the small time car parks in the airports local area as the car has been returned to them with many more miles on the clock then they left it, or with small dents or marks due to the staff continually moving the vehicles around in the car park, carelessly! So unless you park at the airport in a designated space parking for some of my passengers was simply not an option, when you then compare the prices for parking directly at the airport then a taxi is often cheaper.

But let's just explore one last angle. In 2010 the UK experienced major airline disruption due to a number of natural events. Volcano eruptions and snow were a major factor in airlines being delayed or even rerouting to another location. Now if you have your car parked at a particular airport and you are redirected you still have to make your way to where your car is parked, adding many hours of travel to an already stressful journey. If your flight is delayed and you have a bus booked for soon after you land then simply put you will have to purchase a new ticket. Now with an airport taxi transfer you have a bespoke journey booked and most taxi drivers I know will remain flexible and change if they can to suit any problems you incur during your travel. This makes an airport taxi transfer service the most flexible option you have when travelling to the airport.
