Mt. Elgon climbing is a fascinating adventure. The second highest mountain in Kenya and one of the most spectacular mountains in Africa worth climbing is Mount Elgon. Due to the unpredictable rainy season, it can be wet any time of the year although the most reliable season [dry period] is between December and February. It is also reasonably high and it is advisable to prepare adequately.
From the Kenya side, the highest point is Koitoboss at 4,187m and it is accessed in 3 or 4 days depending on the route you take and how fit you are. The most convenient route that starts from Chorlim gate is the most preferred and it is the one we use. It is well-worn and it is the safest up the mountain peak. The highest peak is otherwise Wagagai on the far side of the crater in Uganda standing at 4,321m. Before you depart, you need to check your trekking gear and any that you don't have can be rented at the Adventure Panorama Tours offices.
Mt. Kenya is the highest point in Kenya and the second highest mountain in Africa after Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. It stands at an altitude of 5199 m and it is mainly composed of three zones. The topmost part is rocky, followed by the alpine moorland zone with vast vegetation and an extensive forest and bamboo. Mt. Kenya is situated 180km north of Nairobi. The mountain has a park protected area which is 3200m above sea level. The park itself covers an area of 715 kilometers square. Good preparation prior to the climb is important but no special skills required. Point Lenana, also commonly known as 'the trekker's peak' can always be reached by normal trekers.
Treking Mount kilimanjaro has become so popular with trekkers all over the world, and did you know that you don't need any climbing experience to conquer Mt. Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest mountain standing at 5896 m above the sea level? the only important necessity is good physical condition and the necessary climbing gears. For the hike to be successful though, it is always advisable to have a good sense of humour and co-operation should also prevail between the climber and the guides. You need not to wait any more, you can form part of the many climbers that Adventure Panorama Tours takes on this trip every year!

I've never climbed these mountains and now I probably can't. So here's my advice to you younger people: Do it while you can!
