One night's stay in/around New Orleans during Final Four

OK, I did something stupid. I have clients going to catch a cruise on 4/1 in New Orleans. They need to spend the night before (Sat., March 31) somewhere in that vicinity. Yep, the same night as the Final Four.

Have run into lots of brick walls, including renting an apartment for the night. Any leads you would recommend?

What have you tried in the area, Julie?  There are plenty of suburbs you could try, including Metairie and Kenner closer in, Slidell about 40 minutes north, even a little further out like Baton Rouge (which I believe is an hour and change away, which isn't ideal but certainly doable in a pinch).  It would also depend on when they get in, when they have to board the ship, price range, etc.

So far, I've searched wholesaler databases for the travel industry in all of those suburbs. The cruise line doesn't offer pre and post hotel nights in this city like it does in Florida ports, so that angle petered out, too. This may be one of those unsolvable problems, and the family sleeps in the middle of the state somewhere.

Hi Julie,

A couple members of our local B&B association are showing availability (bbnola.com) but most have a two night minimum. Your next best bet may be to stay at a hotel near the airport and shuttle in for your cruise.

New Orleans has one of the greatest atmosphere in the United States. For lodging I suggest you check out http://bescover.com/inn-listing-5?field_physical_city_value=New%20O.... They have the best bed and breakfasts nation wide and it is a great way to meeting the locals. New Orleans as a vast majority of B and B's.
