We have 1 day to sightsee and explore verona, Italy before making our way to Lake garda. What are the highlights we should see in Verona?

Thanks

Lucky you - Verona is a wonderfully gracious city, and very underestimated by many.  One of my favorite spots in the city is the Roman amphitheater and museum, as well as the Roman arena (like a smaller version of Rome's Collosseum).

You know that several Shakespeare plays were set in Verona, including Romeo and Juliet, and one particular balcony off Via Capello has been pegged as Juliet's from that famous scene in the play. It certainly seems to be the most popular sight in town, anyway.

The plazas are lovely, too, especially Piazza delle Erbe and Piazza dei Signori. Off Erbe, climb the Lamberti tower for a good bird's eye view.

The Duomo (cathedral) is impressive, as it is in most Italian cities, and there's an old medieval fortress called the Castelvecchio which has been turned into a museum.

Again, lucky you - enjoy!!

Thanks for you highlights I will be sure to check them out! :-)

Hi Danielle, it's easy! you cannot miss the Arena and Juliet's balcony.
