One of my writers posted something in ConsumerTraveler.com. http://snipr.com/10gw6v
Obviously, it's the FA fault. If all FAs jumped out of the door when they faced obnoxious travelers we couldn't fly anywhere.

Part of Steven Slater's training was or should have been keeping cool, calm, and professional even under tough circumstances such as a crash or other emergency -- and a difficult passenger -- not matter how much of a schmuck -- ain't nearly as tough a circumstance as a crash. But having said that, I am often horrified by the boorish and even abusive behavoir I witness on flights these days, and if I had been on that flight I probably would've applauded the guy.

I'm on the flight attendant's side, Ed, and I get the sense that the crew was, too, because they waited 25 minutes to call the cops. Or am I the only member of this forum who's been hit on the head by luggage that over-eager passengers were retrieving?

From the Daily News: "A JetBlue flight attendant blew his top on an incoming flight at Kennedy Airport on Monday, dropped the F-bomb over the intercom and bolted down an emergency slide.

"To the passenger who called me a m---f--er, f--- you," flight attendant Steven Slater ranted over the intercom, passengers said.

"I've been in the business 28 years. I've had it. That's it."

Kinda funny, if you don't think too hard. But there's a backstory here: A passenger had tried to remove luggage from the overhead bin before the plane was at the gate, and he'd cursed out the flight attendant when the latter asked him to stop.

Who's to blame?

Ed, Good question regarding DL and LGA. I only use LGA as a convenient airport to get to ATL. Now where exactly is Delta going to stuff these newer establishments ? Brooks Brothers ? I never figured that one, Remove CNBC,NYT,CNN stores ? I kind of agree with you that DL's LGA does not have that market for fine food. LGA is a fast hub, no lingering around kind of a place.

I don't mean to interrupt Allie's (frankly more important) post about animals on flights, but meanwhile, this just in: Delta Airlines has resolved to upgrade its rather sorry space at LaGuardia with 13 quality food and beverage establishments, including an expansive gourmet food hall, coffee bars, and a wine bar. Some of New York's top chefs and restaurateurs have been enlisted -- people like Riad Nasr, Lee Hanson, Michael Lomonaco, Dominick DeMarco, Jamison Blankenship, Jim Lahey, Jason Denton, Chris Cannon and Garrett Oliver. But will this survive in LaGuardia -- I mean, is there a market there for fine food?

Allie, I've heard a lot of horror stories from Westminster competitors who have to fly their pets because they come from the West Coast. It's a nightmare, and I have no answer to your question, but it's certainly the right question.

Seven puppies have died on an American Airlines flight from Tulsa to Chicago. It must have been a horrible death for them. How can we get the airlines to treat pets more humanely?

In the past decade, nearly 1/2 of the major US air carriers filed for Chapter 11. UA,DL,NW.. they come out from restructuring; and no casual flier was impacted. We Frequent flyers fretted about out upgrades and benefits. Bankruptcy don't matter a hillobeans to an occasional traveler. Comparative shopping on the web insured that. Aero Mexico will still fly and Skyteam members will still get miles ;)
