I'm just back from the annual meeting of the Northeast Chapter of SATW. We held it in Baltimore, which blew us away with its extraordinary museums, restaurants, historical sites, and, uh, vibe. Definitely an egregiously underrated city. Last year we met in Pittsburgh, another city that doesn't get enough respect. What other cities belong in this category?

...or under it.

Cleveland is definitely underrated. Weather tends to be very nice spring through early fall. University Circle is often overlooked but it is home to the Cleveland Orchestra, Cleveland Art Museum, and other outstanding cultural institutions. Plus good eating at nearby Little Italy. East of Cleveland is nice also with the Holden Arboretum, bird sanctuaries, Lake Erie beachers, etc. Downtown has a unique ride along the twisting Cuyahoga River with very interesting industrial bridges. Something else generally overlooked in Cleveland: its zoo.
