Peru

The Andes' most compelling country, thanks to attractions including bustling capital Lima with its colonial core; remnants of ancient civilizations like the Nazca lines, Machu Picchu, and temples of Cuzco; and the eco-lodges of the Peruvian Amazon.

Hello Everyone,

Fairly new on Tripatini so am in a learning curve. Looking forward to getting in the swing of things.  Happy Friday for those of you who get to take weekends off.

You won't see much of Peru in the multiple-award-winning Undertow... but on a human level, it's one of the best fílms I've seen in a long time. And, of course, I had to post about it.

Cuzco is back in the Tripatini blog! This time the focus is on the ruins of Sacsayhuamán, the imposing religious complex just outside the city. Read why.

Hi Cessy, the article will be on my sites, www.LatinFlyer.com and www.LatinFlyerBlog.com, later next week. During my travels around Latin America I've come across several really cool but now defunct hotels with interesting architecture and super cool histories (then I'm going to follow that article with a round-up of 5 or 6 very cool mid-20th-century hotels that actually still function). I would loved to have been in Lima in '83 to see -- I bet it was a gorgeous hotel!

Hi Mark, where will you publish that article? sounds fascinating!
back in 1983 I worked in Downtown Lima where back then all the Airlines and Travel Agencies where on La Colmena Street, and if I am not mistaken it was still funtioning, wow memories walking by that beautiful landmark El Gran Hotel Crillon!

Thanks Miguel, that's a huge help. The article is about the history of famous hotels in Latin America that are now closed, so this info will be excellent (the building is still sitting empty, right?). Thanks very much!
