Looking for a special place to spend your holidays in the Alps? www-albergoalpenrose.it. A small familiar hotel in Gressoney, near the tops of the Monte Rosa massif. Monte Rosa feeling good

The Mangy Moose -- duly noted. Hope you're having a good quality of snow up there.

And I'm skiing in Alyeska, Alaska, this week, where I bumped into a group of six German skiers.  When I asked them the same question Ed did, the answer was "To go heli-skiing.  The powder runs are longer here."

Ed, be sure to have an apres ski beverage and view of the mountain at The Mangy Moose.

I'm in Jackson Hole, where I ran into five German skiers who live near the Swiss border. "Why come here when you live so close to ski areas in the Alps?" Their answer: "There are trees near the tops of the mountains here. There are glades!"
