From Facebook page of Emerald Coast CVB (Destin - Fort Walton Beach - Okaloosa Island - Mary Esther - Cinco Bayou), Aug. 28:

Kim Lee: "The Emerald Coast is "Clean & Clear." No mousse, matte, oil, sheen, tarballs, smells, odors or fumes, our beaches are beautiful, as they were before the spill. Come to the Emerald Coast and visit. You won't be disappointed!!!" 23 hours ago

From Gulf Shores/Orange Beach CVB Facebook page, Aug. 28:

Jon Walters: Just got back late last night from Fort Morgan and had a great week on the gulf. I was really shocked at how empty the beaches are we had the entire beach to ourselves several days. It was nice but everyone needs
to know the beaches are open there are great deals and WE HAD NO
PROBLEM WITH OIL AT ALL!! Yes we did see some tarballs at the edge of the surf but they were all old and they were isolated to right at the very edge of the water. Please go and support this wonderful area." about an hour ago

NOAA Reopens 4,000 Square Miles to Fishing off Western Louisiana Coast
by Chris Kirkham

"Federal authorities have reopened more than 4,000 square miles of waters to commercial and recreational fishing off the western coast of Louisiana, after testing of finfish and shrimp samples from the area showed no signs of oil that would be of concern to human health.

No oil has been spotted for a month in the area of federal waters that stretches roughly from the Texas-Louisiana border east to Morgan City, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration."

Alabama Gulf Coast: "The Hangout is throwing the biggest Labor Day party on the beach next weekend! All weekend long they will be roasting pigs in a beach version of the classic Cochon de lait, and jamming out to some great Zydeco. Jamie Bergeron performs Friday at 7:30 pm. Saturday the show starts at 7 pm with Don Fontenot and Lez Ami de La Louisianne. Sunday Wayne Toups is at 8 pm." about an hour ago
