The Government is in the process of gazetting the Uganda Martyrs Shrine in Namugongo a national tourist site. This is expected to elevate the holy place to the level of pilgrimage sites such as Rome in Italy or Mecca in Saudi Arabia. At Namugongo, tourists will learn about the history of Christianity in Uganda.
