Just read about a gathering trend out in L.A., where a pair of roving Korean/Mexican fusion food vendors (the brand name is Kogi) is apparently having huge success using Twitter to advertise locations and specials. They've been joined by other outfits, too: Calbi BBQ, Yuri Truck, and Don Chow Tacos. I'll bet stationary restaurants start doing it, too(I can just imagine the feed from Nobu or Spago).
Actually, the trend is in full force. Celebrity chefs, such as Mary Sue Milliken and Susan Feniger (formally The Food Network's Two Hot Tamales and owners of Border Grill), have a food truck along with many LA celeb chefs. There was an interesting article in yesterday's LA Times Business section (front page) on this very topic. Might want to pull up at www.latimes.com and read.
Just heard from the tourism folks in Sedona, Arizona -- now they, too are jumping on the "restaurant weeks" bandwagon (here they're calling it "Dine in Sedona Restaurant Fest"). This runs from June 15 to 30 and covers some 20 eateries. This is a little different than others I've heard of because it's dinner only and has three tiers -- you can get the basic prix-fixe for $19.95, a mid-range version for $29.95, and top of the line will run you $39.95. More info: www.DineInSedona.com.
Thanks for sharing all the information. I think this will be very helpful for many users who are planning for Hawaii and Alaska vacations.
