Hello. I am a travel writer (specialising in cruises, islands, luxury travel, arts and culture) and am currently researching a new book, Great Boat Journeys of the World. I am editor and lead writer. It will be published in Summer 2012, UK publication with co publishers in Europe and US.
I have selected around 35 classic and unique, inspiring, aspirational cruise experiences, travelling by small, intimate, luxury ships, expedition vessels, river boats and masted sailing yachts, with destinations and itineraries from the Amazon to Asia, Maine coastline to Mississippi, Seychelles to South Pacific, Vienna to Vietnam. A draft selection of great cruise itineraries is attached.
I have arranged a dozen or so press trips already with many of the world's leading cruise companies some fantastic voyages of discovery which will be featured in the book accompanied by lavish illustrations. These cruise features will aim to entice readers to pack their bags to sail away for a year and a day...
I would be pleased to hear from a wide range of Cruise lines and companies with suggestions and offers of press trips cruises. I need to plan several great boat journeys - the Amazon, Mississippi, Alaska, Northern Europe, Croatian islands, Africa, SE Asia, Yangtze river, Kimberley coastline Australia.
And Cruise Travel Writers! Have you recently experienced a truly Great Boat Journey or are you free to take a cruise this year and contribute a cruise chapter. ?
This is a very exciting project and I would appreciate all the assistance to research and plan and experience these Great Boat Journeys to include in this book.

For many years, I was the travel & wellness editor at Healing Lifestyles & Spas (no longer in publication), and participated in a number of wellness-themed cruises on various lines. I've also made multiple transatlantic crossings on the QMII, just for the sheer joy of it. I'm heading out on her again from NY-Southhampton mid-November, then crossing back from Barcelona to Miami on one of Celebrity's Solstice class ships. Let me know, please, if there's anything I might contribute to your project.
All best,
Debra
Vivien, I guess it's too late to apply now. Pity I didn't find this earler, because I just love cruises and to write about them. My most recent was on a small French liner, called Paul Gaugin in the South Pacific. But, having found you at long last, I'd like to take the opportunity to ask a question: I am currently writing an unconventionak guide book to Istanbul, called City of the Green-Eyed Beauty. The guide book, richly illustarted is based on the works of three writers: Pierre Loti, Barbara Nadel and Orhan Pamuk and leads the readers to unknown and fascinating corners of Istanbul as they are integrated in the books of 'my' three writers. I am looking for a publisher and I wonder if the one who will publish your cruise book might be interested. If you could let me know who it is, I'll subnmit query, first chapters and synopsis.
My name is Inka Piegsa-Quischotte. my travel blog is called www.glamourgrannytravels.com and on the portfolio page you will find links to my published articles as well as my books.

Hello Vivien, reading all the comments below make me hesitate to add my own, but here goes: Although I have travelled the world, both on and off the beaten path - please see my blog http://travelswith.zen-aida.com - I have not yet taken a cruise and am in the baby boomer category. So if you need a perspective from a newbee, that is something I could contribute. And yes, I would be available to go on a cruise, the more obscure the destination the better. My areas of specialty are classical music and opera, art and architecture, butterflies and parks.
Very best wishes with your exciting project!

Dear Vivien Devlin - I write on travel, food, luxury, spas and wellbeing. I know south-east Asia and India very well and obviously Europe. I have contributed to Harpersm Conde Nast Traveller, Tatler, the Financial Times, Daily Telegraph and Daily Mail amongst others. I tend to take a cruise a year and have done most of the major rivers - Yangtse, Amazon, Nile and now long to do the new Mekong cruise is you would like a section/chapter on that. I am also keen to return to the great European rivers - Danube, Rhone and Rhine - if that appeals to you.
Plus I am the Spa editor of World of Cruising Magazine so should you wish to include wellbeing on the waves as part of a section or chapter...would love to do so.
Do let me know if any of this appeals to you...with good wishes...Jo Foley
Hi Vivien,
This November I will be on our 17th cruise - all completed within the last 10 years. We've sailed a number of cruise lines: from Carnival to Costa, Celebrity to Silversea, HAL and Windstar. One of our favorite cruises is the transatlantic sailings . . .it is that route we will be taking in November from Barcelona to Ft. Lauderdale, stopping at different ports of call than we did on our April sailing this year on Celebrity from Ft. Lauderdale to Barcelona. This will be our fifth transatlantic crossing and we've crossed the Pacific from Hawaii to Vancouver as well. I plan to write blog articles while on this cruise and could certainly do research for a chapter on ocean crossings if that subject fits your needs. Our blog is http://www.travelnwrite.com there you can find posts about our spring cruise as well as samples of my published articles on the Articles page at the top. Jackie Smith
Vivien,
I was just looking through the postings and noticed your project. I loved the pdf layout and beautiful photos. Had you thought of writing an article on cruising from the prospective of a full-time travelers? We have been on the road full time for over 16 years. When we sail we have no other expenses and can head out to sea whenever. So far this year we have managed to sail at least once a quarter.
We have cruised the Inside Passage to Alaska aboard Princess, sailed through the Panama Canal aboard Holland America and have visited the Mexican Rivera, as well as the Eastern and Western Caribbean several times on both Norwegian and Carnival Lines. Each cruise has had its own set of adventures, unusual events and wonders.
Although my photography skills are limited, my husband as the eye of a great photographer. I excel in descriptive travel writing. We make a great team.
Should you still need assistance with this project or any others please contact us.

I'm interested in assisting you with your writing. I've been a travel writer for years and actually been on six cruises. I'd be very interested in taking a luxury cruise or a sail-cruise.
Please email me at serabooks@aol.com
