Best route from Calpe (Alicante) to Madrid

Hello all,

 

I'm going to Spain soon (Calpe, about 1 hour by car from Alicante), and am considering visiting a friend in Madrid for a day or two.

Someone has already very kindly suggested I go from Alicante, and that I should check www.renfe.com for info. However, Tripatini recommended that I post my question here too.

 

I can go by train, or bus/coach. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
