We will be visiting the Cinque Terre region from June 18 untill the 22nd. We will be staying at "La Cas Di Venere" in the village of Riomaggiore. This apartment was the best I could do at a reasonable price at this late date and in an actual seaside town. Hopefully, this was not an error. I can cancel the booking if you feel that there are better options I was not aware of after a thorough search.

Do you have any ideas as to the best hiking itinerary for this four day period [ we can do moderate to semi strenuous trails] ?

We enjoy good local  food [restaurants] and try to avoid "tourist places" Do you have suggestions for each of the 5 villages, and which musts?

  Any other tips?

We will be driving to Milan on the 22nd for our son has a flight to Bangkok on the 25th. Any ideas for reasonable hotel rooms in Milan, or an interesting stop [ sights] along the way?

   Thank you,

   Stan Wetschler, M.D.

Stan, also see this other set of questions about Cinque Terre. They're not the same questions you ask, but some of this might be of use to you. http://www.tripatini.com/forum/topics/cinque-terre

 Hi Stanely,

I have some information for you. We are a Travel Management Company in Montreal of 40 years and we have an Italy specialist here on-site as well as in Italy.

I have spoken with both on your behalf and they have commented as follows:

The villages are very small and they are wonderful for scenery and a charming bistro however in order to really see the region and go trekking in the best areas - you need to take the train as your main source of transport.

The apartments are not as close to the trains as the hotels and inns that we can book you in at a great value and comfort.

You do not need a car. You are better off by train and boat.

There are excellent restaurants and sites in Cerhabbyo and Genova.

You can also take a train from Milan to a spectacular 5 hour trek.

If you would like us to plan your vacation and re-book you in a more favorable lodging and to provide you with the best in restaurants, guides, transport, logistics, our specialist here will get back to our speciliast in Italy and they will take good care of you.
