Anyone know Lisbon? I've never been before.

If the weather gods are good, I'll arrive in Lisbon around 9 am March 5th. I'm picking up a cruise on the 6th. I'm open to recommendations for cheap and cheerful accommodations for one night. Something simple to reach so I can have a nap (I'll have had 14 hours in the air and at least four hours in airports), do a bit of a wander around and find a place for dinner. I'm on my own, unless someone else happens to be in town then, so I don't need romantic or involved.

Thanks,

Allan

A few years ago I fell hard for Solar do Castelo, an art-filled retreat in the Alfama, right by the fortress. Today, looking at the website, I have to think that they've gussied it up a lot in the past two years. Still, it's well worth looking into. Beautiful building, smart interior design and splendid location.

Great, thanks Sam. Going to a city you don't is almost like being a real tourist...

Hi, Allan!  We're sure you'll love Lisbon, even though your time is short, and we'll put out the word on your request. In the meantime, you might want to check into past Lisbon queries here on the AATP forum, for example, this one.  Feel free, too, to approach the experts listed in our Portugal group as well as those which can be found via our member search function.
