So many choices in this lovely place. Check out www.golakes.co.uk for lots of ideas for things to do and places to stay. Re accomm depends on budget and what part of Lakes you want to be in - it's quite a big county! South Lakes I love Linthwaite Hotel if you have a bit of money to have some unstuffy luxe. Totally quirky & cheap is Nab Cottage on shores of Rydal & self-catering at Good Life cottage in Langdale ... but so many more!

In two days you could see a lot of South Lakes on Day 1 - Windermere & Bowness (most popular place), Rydal & Grasmere for Wordsworth & great gingerbread, Langdales for inspiring scenery, Coniston & Hawkshead for lovely lake & village & Sawrey for Beatrix Potter. Day 2 go up to Keswick & see view from Friar's Crag then do Borrowdale, Honister Pass & Buttermere and back via Whinlatter Forest.

Hope this helps & do let me know if you want any more help
