Today at The World on Wheels, it's our last day in Oregon so we're exploring the neighborhood around our hotel in Grant's Pass.

It's an apocalyptic hellscape as we drive into southern Oregon on our way to Grant's Pass at The World on Wheels.

Tucked into Oregon's untamed northeast corner, Hells Canyon Scenic Byway explores the breathtaking beauty of Hells Canyon, North America's deepest river-carved gorge and nature's extremes – rugged and pastoral mountains, rivers both raging and placid, alpine terrain and evergreen forest. Recreation offers extremes as well, from a peaceful stroll through wildflower meadows to world-class white-water rafting. Road should be open early June!

The Bacon Maple doughnut: a fortuitous blend of carbs, meat, fat, salt, and sugar with overtones of, like, bacon. Doesn't it make you want to be in Portland?

The LA Times, my local paper now that I've moved, reports that Los Angeles may institute a new hotel tax. Meanwhile, Portland, one of my favorite cities, has the lowest taxes on visitors of the 50 major city destinations in the U.S.A.
