Sober Vacations

A boon for many families – not to mention folks in recovery – there's a modest but sturdy segment of the travel industry focused on getting their guests intoxicated on the world rather than the sauce.

Miro, thanks much for sharing. CRTC looks nice, and it's certainly a relief to have options that are more affordable than usually overpriced treatment centers in the US and Europe. I love Costa Rica and it makes a wonderful setting for treatment. And I had not heard of EDMR before, so that was interesting indeed.

But can you be more specific on how its approach is different from what you experienced before?  And I assume the 12-step approach is not part of the treatment regime?

Always nice to read about the community and how it helps each other. I would like to add one center that personally helped my overcome a my addiction of alcohol and other drugs. The treatment happened in a beautiful old house in Rohrmoser called Costa Rica Treatment Center. Their approach is much different than any i've experienced before as this wasn't my first time. Their drug rehab programs are top notch. Highly recommended!!

Thanks Forrest, but for some people moderation is not an option.  I love to travel and try regional delights, but I leave the beer and wine alone.  My travel club is designed to make it comfortable for people to travel together, make new friends, have amazing cultural experiences without alcohol in the equation.  Enjoy your travels!

Ok, Sober is fine. That does not mean you cannot try the local brew or the local wines. All things in moderation, and sometimes that includes moderation. That said, why anyone would go somewhere new, spend a night drinking and the next morning with a hang over is absolutely mysterious to me.

There is one vacation spot where I lived for four years where the only reason to go there is the cheap beer. It isn't even good beer, just cheap.

Thanks Tripatini for starting this group.

Ive had challenges marketing my alcohol free camp and I believe this will be a good forum to exchange ideas.
