Profile Information

Are you connected to the tourism/travel/hospitality industries or travel media in any way? If so, please specify how (kindly include any relevant company names/Web sites!).
Hi - I write and publish surf travel guides, including The Surfer's Guide to Costa Rica & SW Nicaragua and The Surfer's Guide to Baja. (www.TheSurfersGuides.com) The Surfer's Guide to Costa Rica was first "published" in 1995. The quotes are there because the first edition was printed at Kinkos and not really promoted. Bank Wright of Mountain & Sea was the only distributor. Today, both have been the best-selling surf guides for either region and continue to offer more detail and content than any others. Not much in the way of photos...there are none...but that's what the magazines do. The Surfer's Guide to Costa Rica & SW Nicaragua is now available on iTunes and Kindle, too. Baja coming soon. It's been fun!
On which destinations & travel topics can you advise members especially well?
Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Baja
What destinations are you most interested in learning about?
More surf spots in Central America
Other travel / language expertise?
Motorcycles. I have 3 Ducatis and a DR650es I'm rigging for traveling with a surfboard. Check my blog at: http://surfmotoblog.com

Good morning, Mike, and welcome to Tripatini! It's great to have you with us -- and we think you'll find our site productive as well as interesting and enjoyable.

To get the most out of Tripatini, we recommend you take a moment to join several of our many groups which you may find of particular use, such as Media Only; California; Surfers' Board; Beach-Bumming; Eating/Drinking the World; Eco/Sustainable Tourism; Adventure Travel; Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Mexico, Hawaii, and other surfing destinations; and plenty of others covering many other topics and most destinations across the globe.

FYI, on your profile you'll see a green bar marked "Text Box," which you can turn into a box containing not just text but also photos and even videos about yourself, your travels, the Surfer Guides, other activities, and more (feel free to include your URL in your profile).

Finally, if you would, please be so kind as to spread the word among your travel-interested friends, family, colleagues, associates, and audience. It's fast and easy to use our "INVITE" function above left on the navigation bar to enter e-mails (even your whole list at once!). Finally, please join our Facebook fan page and follow us on Twitter (see front page info box); we'll be happy to reciprocate!

Thanks much for joining us; we wish you an outstanding rest of 2010, and it goes without saying that we look forward to seeing you online.

Cheers!
