Arunachal Pradesh is home to a rich cultural diversity, natural beauty, and ancient heritage. In our North East Tour with Arunachal, we explored several passes, tranquil lakes, lush farmlands, picturesque remote village, dense forest, mesmerizing valleys, and serene monasteries.

DAY 1

The first day of our amazing Arunachal Pradesh Tour started with our arrival at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, Guwahati. We landed in Guwahati Airport, which connects to other states in seven sisters. From the airport, the guide accompanied us and transferred to Bhalukpong, a small town in Arunachal Pradesh situated at an elevation of 700 ft. above sea level.

The journey to Bhalukpong from Guwahati took us around 5 hours’ drive and offered us the greatest of views and scenic drive. Bhalukpong is our first stopover on this enthralling journey in Arunachal Pradesh.

DAY 2
When it comes to the second day of our Western Arunachal Pradesh tour plan of 8 days, a journey to Bomdila is inevitable. After having breakfast, we headed to Bomdila, located at an elevation of over 8500 feet in the Northeast state of Arunachal. Bomdila offered us a panoramic view of the stunning Himalayan terrain, and it is one of the must-visit places in the state. We have noticed this is also home to apple orchards that are open for visitors, and we got a chance to buy a juicy apple from here. Towards the evening, I didn’t miss tasting Thukpa, momos and yummy noodles from the roadside stall.

DAY 3

My tour of Western Arunachal continued with my next destination from Bomdila to Tawang crossing Sela Pass. Sela Pass, located at an elevation of 13720 feet, is a breathtaking place in Arunachal Pradesh, and seriously it is a must-visit place. The moment we stopped at Sela Pass, we experienced a slice of heaven on earth. It is a popular tourist spot and undoubtedly the best destinations of Mother Nature.

We learnt Sela Pass does get heavy snowfall during winters. An interesting fact of Sela Pass is that this place has around 101 lakes, all sacred to the Buddhist. Among all one spectacular lake in Arunachal that we have visited is Sela Lake, also known as Paradise Lake because of its appeal and beauty.

The next stop was at Jaswant Garh War Memorial, a memorial to the brave soldier who fought the invading Chinese soldiers all alone for three long days. Post lunch at Jong village, we also pass by the stunning Nuranang Fall, one of the hidden gems of Tawang. After a long journey toward Tawang, this mesmerizing waterfall took away all tiredness. It was like a dream of experiencing seeing a river flowing by the side and a beautiful waterfall. We could not expect a better place to visit with the spectacular landscape pleasing our eyes and pleasant weather comforting our body. Later we enjoyed the Tawang night sky sitting outside in the dark looking at the thousands of stars.

DAY 4

Tawang has so many beautiful places to explore by visitors. It is the most popular places in Arunachal Pradesh and a great place to soak in the beauty. Today, we spend the day exploring in and around renowned sites of Tawang. The day started visiting the Tawang Monastery, built-in 1681, as per the wishes of the 5th Dalai Lama. Tawang Monastery looks like a fortress meant to guard the valleys, perched on top of a hill. Our guide informed us this is the largest monastery in India and the second-largest in the world after Potala Palace in Lhasa.

After the monastery, we made a quick visit to the craft centre and Tawang War Memorial dedicated to the Indian soldiers who died in 1962.

DAY 5

We started the day bit early and visited the Bum la Pass close to the China border. Our guide informed us this pass steeped in history as it is from here that the Chinese invaders attacked India, and one of the fiercest battles also took place here. Even the Dalai Lama escaped Tibet and fled to India from this Sela pass. We had a good time at Bum la Pass, one of the most offbeat passes in the world and a worth visiting.

Next, we continued to visit the pretty Pangang Teng Tso and also Sangestar Tso. We learnt the Sangestar Lake is also known as Madhuri Lake. The lake is very picturesque, which should never be missing when you are in Tawang. Out here, the cafeteria near the lake satisfied our hunger.

We explored the Tawang market to buy some souvenir like thangka and Traditional painting.

DAY 6

Our beautiful day started with a journey towards the Dirang from Tawang. This small hill station welcomed us with snow-capped mountain, gushing streams and lush greenery. The beautiful town of Dirang in the west Kameng district of Arunachal is the perfect place for visitors. We enjoyed the pleasant weather, scenic beauty, and rich culture makes it a must-flavored town for visitors.

In the second half, we explored the Sangti valley, which is beyond description. Wow, Sangti Valley is one of Arunachal’s secret treasures. It surrounded by the ranges of Eastern Himalayas, enclosed with fruit orchards (apple, apricot, Orange and Kiwifruit), and spotted with pristine forests and rivers.

This beautiful valley is winter home to endangered species, Black-necked cranes which migrate from China.

DAY 7

On our seventh day of the Western Arunachal Pradesh tour, we drive to Bhalukpong, the gateway to popular destinations like Tawang and Bomdila. Headed back from foothills of Arunachal Pradesh and reached near the plains of Assam.

We visited Tipi Orchid centre, one of the popular tourist destination in the districts. The orchid glasshouse and hanging baskets at Tipi Orchid centre are mind-blowing.

DAY 8

After breakfast, we headed toward Guwahati airport with beautiful memories of the Arunachal Tour. The tour ended but not the memories of the Arunachal Pradesh.

Hope I have given a vivid idea regarding how you can plan for your Arunachal tour. Here one thing to note that you can combine this type of Package with Kaziranga and Manas Nation Park also with Guwahati Kamakhya Temple Tour. So, plan accordingly before setting out for Arunachal. Believe me its an amazing destination that will fill your heart with joy and freshness. Arunachal is amazing.
