Kollam has been a thriving trading port for centuries. Best Known for Ashtamudi Lake. The surrounding region produces pepper (after which the city is named), cashews, coir, and other agricultural products. Local communities include Christian, Muslim and Hindu peoples. Day 1
Day 1 trip will be starting from Sri Krishna Temple – Ambalapuzha located in Ambalapuzha is an ancient temple built in 8th century AD. Alappuzha Beach – Alappuzha beach is a lovely white sand beach on the Arabian Sea. The beach is lined with dense palm groves at one end. The bridge on the beach is close to 150 years old. With Arabian Sea on the west and several lakes (including Vembanad Lake), lagoons and several freshwater rivers, Alappuzha is a place with breathtaking natural beauty.The children park at the northern end of the beach is a good place to hang out for kids. Resuming Sight Seeing from Sri Krishna Temple & Ashtamudi Lake – Ambalapuzha – Mahadeva Temple desticated to Lord Siva is located in Thrikkadavoor is a famous Siva Temple in the district of Kollam, situated on the banks of Ashtamudi Lake. Next we move to Kollam Backwater Cruises – Kerala back waters is a prominent destination for Tourism in Kerala. Thirty percent of this district is covered by Ashtamudi Lake. The eight hour boat trip between Kollam and Alappuzha is the one of the best way to explore the backwaters along with daily life of locals. Kollam is the venue for famous Kallada Boat Race held in January every year. Then to Kollam Beach – Kollam Beach, also known as Kochupilamodu Beach is located in Kochupilamodu. The Mahatma Gandhi Park situated at the southern end of the beach is an added attraction. The beach offers beautiful views of the sunset and it is ideal for swimming. As last we visit Thangasseri Beach & Light House – Thangasseri beach is a wonderful place to spend an evening and watch the lovely sunset. The beach is adjacent to Kollam Fort. At the north-east corner of the beach, the ruins of Thangasseri Fort built in the 18th century are also interesting to visit. Lighthouse situated close to the beach is worth visiting. Built-in 1902, the majestic Lighthouse is 144 feet tall. Lighthouse is open to the public between 3:30 PM & 5:30 PM.
