HCM City to hold cultural events for Uncle Ho's birthday

 

HCM CITY — HCM City will host a slew of cultural events to celebrate the 121st birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh on May 19.

One of the highlights will be Vang Mai Khuc Ca Ten Nguoi (Forever Songs in Praise of Uncle Ho), in which more than 100 singers, dancers and musicians from theatres and art clubs in the city will perform.

Organized by HCM City Television (HTV), the event will also feature patriotic songs by composers like Pham Minh Tuan and Hoang Hiep, and reports and speeches by veterans and officials who will share their memories of the late President.

The show will be broadcast live on HTV9. Another HTV programmed broadcast on HTV3 and HTV7 channels will feature a collection of TV series and films portraying the life of the leader.

They will include award-winning works like Nguyen Ai Quoc O Hong Kong (Nguyen Ai Quoc in Hong Kong), Vuot Qua Ben Thuong Hai (Across the Shanghai), and Nhin Ra Bien Ca (Reaching the Sea).

The Youth Cultural House and Women's Cultural House are working together to organize photo and book exhibitions and music contests highlighting the President's life and career and targeting students and other young people.
