Pine, Juniper and Birch trees are common in the region as well as beautiful rhododendron flowers that can be seen in bloom in spring. Monasteries are found at many places on the route, and evidence of Buddhism can be seen all along the way – from the chortens and mani stones to the friendly monks and the fluttering prayer flags which represent the eternal peace of the holy Himalayas.
