Day 1 of the Inca trail from Cusco to Wayllabamba
We will pick you up from your hotel in Cuzco and drive you to Km. 82 in Urubamba valley. Here we start the first day of trekking to the Inca city of Patallacta which is a town in the heights of this Andean region. After a short visit to this archaeological group, we will continue our walk towards Wayllabamba (prairie – green place) where we will camp at 3000 m.
Day 2 of the Inca trail: Wayllabamba, Pacaymayu and Runkuraccay
This morning we will get to the highest pass of the Inca trail, the area of Warmihuañusca which means "Dead Women" at 4208 m. From there you will appreciate the snow-capped mountains of the Salcantay Range. Then we will continue our way down to Pacaymayo Valley. The next pass will be Runkuracay which are ruins which have the shape of an oval building and from where we will have a spectacular watch over at 3860 m. and appreciate the magnificent Inca trail and later camping night in the place.
Day 3 of the Inca trail: Runkuruccay, Phuyupatamarca and Wiñayhuayna
After having our breakfast we will begin our trek to Sayacmarca, a small archaeological group near the complex of Puyupatamarca also known as the Town above the Clouds at 3650 m. Here we will observe a fantastic sample of the Inca stone masonry. Later we will trek down to Wiñayhuayna, place which is also known as Young for ever; here we will appreciate the beautiful fountains and terraces at 2800 m. Camping night.
Day 4 of the Inca trail: Wiñayhuayna, Machupicchu and back to Cuzco
Early this morning we will hike towards Intipunku (the Gate of the Sun). At this point with the help of the sunrise and if weather permits, we will have the first and amazing view of the Citadel of Machu Picchu Sanctuary. Here you will have a guided tour of the world’s most famous archaeological group - the Lost City of the Incas, Machu Picchu.
You will meet your guide in Aguas Calientes (it can be reached by bus or on foot) for lunch and to be given your train tickets back to Cuzco. The train usually leaves between 2.30 pm and 6pm depending on Peru Rail allocations.
If desired, an extra night in Aguas Calientes can be arranged. This option is very popular as it allows more time to explore Machu Picchu. You can also go to the thermal springs in the town - a real treat after finishing the trail!
Fares of the Inka Trail: Fares for this 4-day Inca Trail depend on the number of people you are in your group (more people less pricy). From $ 460 dollars per person.
