If the idea of getting married makes you have cold feet, try thinking about tying the knot for the 13th time. That is how many times Karl Fix and Sandy Beug – more notably known to the World Wide Web as the ‘serial wedders’ will have exchanged their vows for this year.
Fix and his wife have married 12 times now in 11 countries. It all started in 2004 when the couple travelled to South Africa for their first marriage. A month later, Fix decided that it was a good idea to have a wedding in Beug’s birthplace, Germany. When they finally returned home to Canada, naturally, they decided to have their third wedding there.
Hopeless romantics out there would agree that there is nothing more sentimental than celebrating love through joint matrimony. To some, 12 times may be one too many, however, Karl insists that it’s just for fun. He told CBC News in an interview,“I don’t want to turn it into a thing, like Guinness Book of Records. That’s not the reason we did this, it’s just fun, life is short”.
After 12 marriage ceremonies, it doesn’t stop there. Karl and Sandy are set to travel to Mongolia on the 7th of September with The China Guide for their 13th wedding ceremony. If love is the food of life, and travel is the dessert, then what better way is there to travel than with the love of your life?
The China Guide specializes in customizing personal travel itineraries, and can organize special China trips such as honeymoons or weddings.
