midnight sun Lapland

There’s little that can quite prepare you for your first time standing outside at midnight in broad daylight. The sun staying just above the horizon casts beautiful pinks and golds over the sky and lake, and the world around you is completely silent except for birdsong. It’s a magical time of year.

The video below was taken on 8th June,  as we get closer to summer solstice (June 21st) the sun will stay higher in the sky throughout the night.

Turn your speakers up to hear the bird song - and very little else.

@David  I know a lot of fishermen go quite late in the evening and stay out until morning, and the fish they bring back are fabulous. Yum yum :)

Guy I met who went fishing up there said he never stopped and never slept. Caught-and-released a lot of fish too.
