A scenic view of  Mt.Kilimanjaro from Amboseli National Park

It inspires people to climb it every year by its towering above the plains, which is a quintessential African image. It stands at an altitude of about 5,895m above the sea level and only 3 degrees south of the equator. It is snow- caped all year round.

Its Main roots open to the public include:
1.Marangu on the East which is the mos popular way because of its gentleness and accommodation   en route
2.Machame on the South which is probably the  most attractive way going up.
3.Shira plateau on the west which is very rough and needs a 4WD to access.
4.Umbwe also from the south which is very scenic, short and steep but the top section is very undertaking. It also joins Barafu Ridge and Machame route.
5.Mweka- it is the fastest and the most direct route but it is the steepest and only allowed as a descent rout.It is also located on the south of the mountain.
