If you are a teacher or parent chaperone involved in taking children on field trips of any sort, then this article might be an interesting and helpful one for you to read. If you have been entrusted with the task of taking children on educational trips and making them fun for them at the same time, then you have been bestowed with a rather tedious task. Organizing an educational trip that will be fun at the same time is not an easy thing to do and there are many things that you have to keep in mind. Depending on the ages of the children that you are escorting, you will have to make special arrangements not just in terms of transport, but also in terms of exploring the place you are going to. If you have to look after children under the age of ten, then this task becomes even more exhausting. However, this article aims to give you some tips on how organize a school trip for the children. Here they are.

Select a Location Beforehand and Pre-plan the Activities

One of the most important things that you can do is to select the location early on and pre-plan the activities. This way you will not have the trouble of having to manage a bunch of children and look for things that you can do at the same time. For an instance, you can refer a magazine or something that contains lists such as things to do in Melbourne with kids. This way you can mark out the important things for you to do and prepare your itinerary for the trip. Furthermore, if you are in charge of taking small children on this trip then it is important that you have more than two or three people with you. This way they can be controlled and you will not lose them halfway either. When you pre-plan the activities and the places to visit you can directly go ahead with these things, instead of wasting time on the day of the trip.

Divide the Children into Small Groups

One of the easiest ways to manage children on a trip is to divide them into small groups. Depending on the number of children you are taking with you, divide it by a number that would not put more than ten children per group. Once you do this, assign an adult to each group and at the same time make one of the children the monitor of the group. This way, the children will be in control of each other. Further, you can name the groups so that it will be easy for you to call them or refer to them. Enforce strict rules and make it clear to them that they have to stick within their groups as it is very important. If the children are very small, then you even have the option of requesting their parents to dress them in one colour which has been designated to each group. This way you can keep track of them.
