Amber is everywhere in Gdańsk: in shops, market stalls, museums and galleries. Rough and raw, it can be found – if you are lucky - on many of the nearby sunny Baltic beaches.
Amber is fossilized tree resin which has been appreciated for its colour and natural beauty since Neolithic times.
In Roman times, the area was a destination for traders, who carried the stone southwards along the Amber Trail.
