One of the greatest adventurous trekking in Nepal is Upper Mustang Trekking which gives a glimpse of many beautiful sceneries of the country. Mustang Trekking will give you a view of Nepali tradition, lifestyle of the local people which is similar to that of the people from Tibet. This trekking route also gives the view of the Buddhist kingdom of Mustang Valley. The houses are different and the housing structure is unique as compared to that of what is seen in other parts of the country. The houses are build with stones and all the houses have white color on the walls, firewood is tucked on the roof of every house in this region.
Mustang is a rocky land surrounded by giant rocks and mountains; it also observes rain shadow and is hence considered as the desert of the country. This region use to be a separate kingdom when Nepal was divided into a number of kingdoms. Mustang still has existing monarchy which the people support. The King is Jigme Paramal Bista and the people respect the royals in Mustang. Mustang can be reached through the trail that goes through Kali Gandaki River, which is the deepest river of the world. The religion of people living in Mustang is Buddhism and hence this place is enriched with traditional Buddhist Monasteries and Gumbas.

The Home Ministry of Nepal, announced Upper Mustang to be a restricted area in October 1991. There is a process to obtain a permkit from Department of Immigration to visit Upper Mustang. The process to obtain permission is qutie strict. This rule has been put in order to protect the tradition and culture of people in Mustang from outer influence. It is highly deserted region of the Tibetan influence.
