Well, from what I can see, I think you're right. The NYT email was posted on Gawker.

Yes, Ed is correct. Interesting to read that Danielle has zero travel writing experience. My main contacts and assignments are from the picture editors but I have tried several times to do a combination travel writing and photo assignment for NYT. My ideal assignment would be a Weekend in.... that shows photos of the specific place along with the caption.

Hello. I did email a pitch on a smaller European city--well researched and supported with interesting details. I was told "we just did a special Europe section and will wait on this." Short but polite. But also not what I'd call encouraging.
