Ama Datshi - the favourite dish of Bhutanese!

Ama Datshi- Chilli and Cheese (5-7minutes cooking time)

Ingredients:
4 big chillies (fresh or dried)
One heaped table spoon of grated cottage cheese
One table spoon of cooking oil or butter (butter mild down the heat from the chillies)
Salt to taste

Method:
Slit the chillies into half lengthwise and cut them in half to make quarter pieces.
Put them in a pan. (Preferably a non stick pan)
Add just enough water to barely cover them fully.
Sprinkle the grated cheese over the chillies.
Add the butter and salt.
Turn the gas on and cook without stirring.
When it comes to a boil and the cheese melts into the chillies, turn off the heat and stir to mix all the ingredients together.
Serve with rice.

Hi Bara, I did not get the recipe or photo Did you send it to mdhill@noralyn.com? I also checked my spam.

If you have any contacts with the tourism bureau, I could certainly follow through with them on a possible trip someday.

Best,
Maralyn

Yes Thinley, someday I hope to go to Bhutan. I'm sure it will be very special. It holds special importance to me because of Dilgo Khyentse R (previous). John (Damchö) john@TravelWritingAndPhotography.com

Hi Bara, That was fast. My e-mail is mdhill@noralyn.com. I'll look forward to what you send. I used to cook much more than I do now. I only cook know when I feel like it. But, today is a day with a lot of cooking as I'm having my son and his family for Thanksgiving.

I meant to tell you how beautiful your photographs are. You capture the essence of the feeling.

Best,
Maralyn

Thank you for the information on Bhutan and Baralynka. If you would like to send me any recipes and photos along with tradition to go with them, I'd be happy to do some posts on them that get good coverage.

Culinarily yours, Maralyn

Greetings, Thinley, and welcome to Tripatini! It's great to have you with us -- and we think you'll find our site productive as well as interesting and enjoyable.

To get the most out of Tripatini, you may want to take a moment to join several other of our many other groups which you may find of particular interest, such as Adventure Travel, Eco/Sustainable Tourism, Eating/Drinking the World, India, Nepal, our German Language/Culture Club, and plenty of others covering many other topics and most destinations across the globe.

FYI, on your profile you'll see a green bar marked "Text Box," which you can turn into a box containing not just text but also photos and even videos about yourself, your interests, your travels, Bhutan, and Baralynka.

Finally, if you would, please be so kind as to spread the word among your travel-interested friends, family, colleagues, associates, and clients. It's fast and easy to use our "INVITE" function above left on the navigation bar to enter e-mails (even your whole list at once!). If you might be interested in occasionally blogging for us as well, guidelines/rates are available upon request.

Thanks much for joining us, Thinley; we wish you an outstanding rest of 2009 and look forward to seeing you online.

Cheers!
