I am the manager of Warasa Garifuna Drum School - an interactive cultural experience in traditional Garifuna drumming, dancing, drum-making, singing and more. Warasa is located in the pretty seaside town of Punta Gorda, Belize.

The Garifuna people are descendants of shipwrecked slaves in the 17th century who mixed with the indigenous Arawak and Carib indians on St Vincent the in Caribbean, creating a whole new ethnicity and culture. The Garifuna culture was proclaimed a "Masterpiece of the oral and intangible heritage of humanity" by UNESCO in 2001.
