Decent But Not Expensive Hotel in San Francisco?

I might be going to San Francisco in mid-August. Can you recommend hotels where I can get a nice room with a private bathroom without paying more than $150 or, if not that, $180 per night? I am not a youngster who is comfortable in bare-bone hotel rooms.

A quick check on Marriott's site shows the Renaissance on Nob Hill at $169 per night. You could probably get a discount on that too with AAA, AARP, or maybe a corporate rate. Expedia has a number of good hotels in that range, including the Westin at $156 per night and the Sir Francis Drake at $136 per night.

Hi, try http://www.localgetaways.com, they specialize in great hotels deals just in the San Francisco Bay Area. You should be able to get a great hotel for that price.

I've heard plenty of good things recently about the Larkspur Hotel near Union Sq. Also, Harbour Court is good if you get a water view.
