the world's smartest travel social network
Not a day goes by when I am not dreaming of some sort of trip to go on. The problem is that I have acquired a tremendous sum of student loans (and I am not even done with school!) due to multiple degrees in healthcare administration and nursing. I am really interested in any tips people have about travelling for nothing or getting paid to travel. Are there agencies that give paid jobs abroad to Americans? I am a nomad at heart and I am getting frustrated being in one town for almost a year now. The itch to travel is consuming me!

Look at NGOs that place qualified medical professionals in different parts of the world. Please be advised, there is no pleasure in volunteering, it is tough work.
Ms. Walsh, you may volunteer with church and religious groups, or you may contact a volunteer organization called United Planet. I cannot remember whom I was talking with, but someone told me about volunteering for a nursing assignment through this organization and sent me this link in case my daughter would be interested: http://www.unitedplanet.org/healthcare-volunteer-abroad
My cousin's friend got a good assignment teaching English overseas through a company called InterExchange. She's Canadian, like me, but I'm sure the company also serves U.S. citizens who want to work overseas in a way that lets them into the culture instead of just putting them in an office cubicle.
Try jobs.goabroad.com. They post jobs in healthcare and other fields. But bear in mind that if you accept a post in Banas, Ecuador, or Tripoli, Lebanon, then you're not free to be a true nomad because you're working five days a week in Banas or Tripoli.
