I am a licensed New York City tour guide and author. My book, "Boss of the Grips: The Life of James H. Williams and the Red Caps of Grand Central Terminal" (Liveright), received the GANYC Apple Award from the Guides Association of New York City. I'm also author of the local history book, "Manhattanville: Old Heart of West Harlem" (Arcadia), and a contributor to the travel guidebook, "New York City by Bus and Subway" (Rod Kennedy Jr, Editor). My writing and photography has appeared in numerous print and online publications.

Whither Do Thou Lie, Philip Livingston? Hither or Thither?

One hates to split hairs. Especially the hairs of the dead. But a joyful discovery in my local cemetery was soon followed by an almost instant disappointment.

The French Emperor, Napoleon the First and his Code. In fact, all major plagues in Gdansk ended when Napoleon established the Free City of Gdansk (1807 ) and ordered all the church cemetaries to be removed beyond the city limits.
