Many people who choose to stay at accommodation in Flinders are interested in touring some of the wineries in the area. The region is known for producing some delicious drops, not to mention that the vineyards themselves are quite beautiful, so it is well worth the trip. If you are staying at the cosy Cape Schanck Lighthouse, some of the wineries in the nearby area include:
▪ The Cups Estate (Fingal)
The wines created at this winery have won numerous awards and acclaim over the years. They are open 7 days a week, however, the times differ on the time of year. Sample pinot noir, chardonnay and pinot gris in the cellar door. The restaurant specialises in food that is meant to be shared and overlooks the gorgeous vineyard and olive grove.
▪ Mantons Creek Estate (Shoreham)
This family owned winery was previously an orchard, herb farm and horse stub before becoming a vineyard in the 90’s. They are open from 11am to 5pm Wednesday to Sunday, however, accommodation is also available. Sample pinor noir, sauvignon blanc, sparkling brut and chardonnay in the cellar door or dine in the restaurant.
▪ Myrtaceae (Arthurs Seat)
If you’re staying at accommodation in Flinders, we definitely recommend making the trek to this winery. They are open every weekend between 12noon and 5pm, as well as some public holidays. Sample single vineyard chardonnary and pinot noir in the cellar door. John and Julie Trueman, the owners, handle every step of the process.
▪ Nazaaray Estate (Flinders)
If you’re staying at accommodation in Flinders, a visit to this winery is a must. They are open from 12noon to 4pm on the first and third weekends of the month. Sample pinor noir, syrah, pinot gris, sauvignon blanc and chardonnay in the cellar door. Picnic facilities are available, and picnic baskets can be pre-ordered if desired.
▪ Pier 10 (Shoreham)
This is a small family owned and run winery. The cellar door is open from 12noon to 5pm on Saturdays and Sundays, whilst the restaurant is open for dinner on Fridays and Saturdays. The cellar door also has a small seating area where snacks can be enjoyed. Sample delicious chardonnay and pinot noir; half dozen gift packs are also available.
▪ Sillitto (Boneo)
This stunning vineyard combines the beauty of the Mornington Peninsula with the rustic charm of Tuscany. They are open between 12noon and 3pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Sample shiraz, vino bianco, rosato and Tuscan Red in the cellar door. They also have an olive grove, so be sure to also sample olive oil and cured olives.
