A Memorable Honeymoon Exploring Andaman, India's Beach Islands

Honeymoon trips are always among the most memorable, and after our wedding I wanted to splurge a bit and make our honeymoon as enjoyable as possible. My soon-to-be husband and I love beaches, so we chose was the tropical islands Andaman and Nicobar, in the Bay of Bengal. Filled with a number of pristine beaches offering the best view of nature and the sunset allowing the travellers to explore the best of the marine life Andaman was one perfect honeymoon destination that comes under the union territory of India. We chose a three-day honeymoon package organised by Andaman Tour Travel, based in Kerala. We would book a flight from Kerala to Port Blair, the union territory's caital, and meet the tour operator representative to start our adventure.

Day 1: Our Introduction to Andaman

Our four-hour morning flight from Kochi arrived on time in Port Blair on time, and we were met by Andaman Tour Travel's representative, who took us to our hotel, about 45 minutes outside town. After a short rest and refreshment after a tiring flight, we set out on some sightseeing in Port Blair. Our first stop was the Cellular Jail also called Kala Pani, which was once used as a prison by the British to exile political prisoners who fought for India's freedom. It reminded us of the era when many brave people died fighting for the country. We then moved on to explore the Samudrika Naval Marine Museum, run by the Indian Navy, grouped into five sections that showcase the history of these islands and its people. This was one of the best things we experienced on our visit, and gave both of us insight into these unique islands and their culture. By this time it was sunset, and so we returned back to the hotel, had dinner, and turned in for the evening.

Day 2: The Dazzling Beaches of Havelock Island

We got up a bit early and checked out of the hotel around 9 am and set off on a roughly three-hour ferry trip out to Havelock Island, which has six villages and even more beaches, all lovely. After checking into our hotel a resting for a while, our first stop was the famous Elephant Beach, about 20 miles away from the island dock. It's named after the elephants which once roamed the island, and we had a lovely time sunning near the coconut palms on its gleaming white sand, swimming, snorkeling its beautiful coral reef to see lots of colorful fish, and watching people jetskiing and parasailing till late afternoon. We then hopped over to nearby Kala Pathar Beach for a bit more. It is smaller, also less crowded, and truly felt like a tropical dream. After enjoying a lovely sunset here we headed back to the hotel where we enjoyed a romantic and memorable night.

Day 3: Back to Port Blair and More Beaches

We took the ferry back to Port Blair in the morning, checked back into our hotel, then were driven 20 minutes to Corbyn's Cove Beach, another picturesque one with coconut palms and amazing clear blue water. Here too we noticed many people doing water sports like jetskiing and also surfing. After a few well spent hours here, we were still ready for more. Our next destination was supposed to be Ross Island, which has no people but is supposed to be beautiful, and you can visit some restored colonial buildings out there. But it was closed, so instead we were taken to another Chidiya Tapu, a boat ride of about an hour. The forests and mangroves out here are beautiful, and its a biological reserve that's popular for birdwatching. But we wanted one last bit of sun and sea, so spent a couple more hours on beautiful Mundapahad Beach. We capped off our island visit by going to Sunset Point, because Chidiya Tapu is also famous for its spectacular sunsets. And what a way to end our day, and our visit - such amazing colors, I'll never forget it! Then it was time to head back to the hotel, dinner, and call it a night.

As we had to board a flight back home that day we woke up the next morning around 9 am, and then after packing and checking out of the hotel moved to the airport where we thanked and waved goodbye to the tour operator people who gave us a wonderful best Andama tour package experience, nd then flew home happy. I can't wait to come back some day soon!
