If you're looking for a beautiful, sunsplashed island with a marvelous mix of action and indolence, this world-famous member of the Cyclades Islands should be high on your list. Here are its highlights:

Mykonos Town

The island is dominated by a typically Cycladic feel, of sun, sea, and breezes, plus its blue-and-whitewashed traditional architecture, best seen in beautiful Mykonos Town, one of Greece's most attractive and popular travel destinations. Especially during the summer, the town comes alive visitors, who stroll along the numerous narrow streets and enjoy its many shops, restaurants, taverns, bars, and clubs

"Little Venice" is perhaps the most famous corner of Mykonos. Anyone visiting the town can hardly can't resist taking lots of photos of this spectacular district where land and sea water become almost one; its houses are embraced by the sea and the view of the emerald waters of the Aegean is magnificent.

Chora Archaeological Museum

In a beautiful building by the seaside building you'll find here representative samples of ceramics created in Cyclades since the up to the 6th century BC, as well as classical Hellenic tomb engravings of the Hellenic years, vessels from 3,000 to 100 BC., statues and columns of the 2nd and 1st century BC, as well as six idols of the same era, along with jewelry and various small items. Entrance 2 Euro per person.

Super Paradise Beach

It is perhaps the most famous and popular beach in Mykonos island, the main reason being the area's natural beauty along with, of course the beautiful sandy beach itself. The beach is well organized, too, with sunbeds, umbrellas, bars, and restaurants.

Kalafatis Beach

One of Mykonos' largest, most beautiful beaches, where you can relax, swim and also indulge yourself in all kind of water sports, located in the southeast of the island.

Panormos Beach

Another breathtaking strand in the northern part of the island, it features turquoise waters and gorgeous views of sand dunes.

Psarou Beach

Just 5 km (3 miles) from Mykonos town, the special drraw here is the particularly calm waters.

Ftelia Beach

A beautiful sandy stretch in the north of the island, Ftelia is very crowded in summertime due to its unique natural beauty and is especially a mecca for windsurfing.. Artifacts from the Neolithic era were found in the area.

Kalo Livadi

The longest beach on Mykonos and among its best equipped, Kalo Livadi is about ten kilometers from Mykonos Town.

Elia Beach

Also very long and well equipped, with crystal clear waters, about 8 km (5 miles) from town. If you want to stay nearby, there are plenty of lodging opportunities for every budget nearby.

Practical Matters

Mykonos is hot during summer, so definitely light-color, comfortable clothes are a necessity - as are sunglasses! Low-heel shoes are recommended for long walks, and you'll want not to forget your swimsuit - and if you're a nightlife fan, a fabulous outfit or two for the clubs.

There is bus service on the island, but the best and most comfortable way to get around is via motor scooter. Many of the island hotels offer free transportation back and forth to Chora as well as certain beaches. The option of a rental car is also available.
