Madrid is Spain's biggest metropolis with an intriguing combination of ancient and modern architecture. You can anticipate excellent cuisine, fascinating monuments and a wonderful nightlife like other major Spanish cities. Its vitality may be observed via the leisurely attitude in individuals to life where lunch does not begin until 15.00 pm, the night begins until 12.00 pm and until morning you do not sleep. This may seem insane at first, but without knowing it, you may get pulled into their society.

In Madrid proper, if you stay in the main center you can stroll to nearly all of its famous sites. If not, the easiest and cheapest choice is definitely the Metro. Also you can find a cheap car rental in Madrid on Cars Scanner.

Visit Madrid's Royal Palace

The Palacio de Oriente is next to the Almedena Cathedral and within walking distance of the Templo de Debod and Plaza Mayor. Not to say, at all times, the astonishing exterior of the palace and the details of the numerous statues. If you can spare some euros, walk inside and learn about the palace's history. Unfortunately, that day I didn't have sufficient time, so I decided instead to go around the palace.

Hangout In Puerta del Sol

Madrid's heart is Puerta del Sol. This plaza is one of the city's most busy squares with restaurants, stores and eateries. You can come and shop throughout the day or the gorgeous architecture, if you don't enjoy shopping, will keep you and your camera occupied for a long time. The square becomes a nightlife scenery, with several bars and clubs to entertain you through the morning when you arrive throughout the night.

Visit the Main Square

A few minutes from the Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor is another main plaza. This is a wonderful location to sit back and relax, sip a glass of great wine and eat tapas, while you experience the architectural grandeur of the square.

Eat in the world's oldest restaurant

I bet you didn't know Madrid is the world's oldest restaurant. Nor until I was told about it by the guide. The restaurant is known as the Castilian restaurant Sobrino de Botín, which is the world's oldest restaurant for more than 250 years. In the dining room and kitchen, the restaurant nevertheless retains its old world feel, and even cooks its meals using the wood-burners! You really shouldn't miss a once in life experience.

Discover Madrid's Quiet Streets

Madrid is a labyrinth of lovely streets that cross one another and making it even more enjoyable to explore. You're in a quiet street one minute so calm you believed you weren't in a capital, then another minute you're in a busy place watching people mingle from all over the world. All of the streets have their unique beauty and await you.
