Yosemite Valley is open year around and Winter has it's own challenges and rewards. The pics give you an idea of the incredible beauty here in Yosemite National Park but the temperature on the Valley floor remained a constant 32 degrees so most of the walkways are frozen solid. The hike up to Bridalveil Falls was downright comical. The frozen path proved incredibly challenging to walk on but it did create a fun and entertaining  comradery with the other visitors. Those of us that reached the upper landing were then faced with how to get down. My solution, slide. I carry a butt cushion made by Thermorest and it doubles as a sled when needed, doesn't steer very well but. Alex (the Yosemite Audio Adventures VW Bug) and I rode the icy trail the whole way down!  Excellent!

'Groveland to Yosemite Valley' Audio Adventure works any time of year. Come visit and dress warm!

People are few, traffic is very light and, least for today, chains were not required although there was considerable packed snow on the roadway around Crane Flat. Go Slow but Go!

Incredible pictures Kris! I want to go next time you are doing an easy ice trail like Bridal Veil Fall. Winter is the very best time to see Yosemite. I love what the snow/white does to make those gray granite walls so beautiful.
