Sights and restaurants in Krakow, Poland

I am visiting Krakow for a few days in a couple of weeks time, to do some travel photography. Any tips on interesting and unusual sights to photograph, and nice authentic restaurants to eat in? Thanks!

The center and the Jewish region of Krakow have a lot to offer for Photography. Salt Mines, Auschwitz, Zakopane and Kopiec Kosciuszki.

Many thanks for your recommendations Peter! I will definitely give some of these restaurants a try, and add some of these sights to my itinerary. Is it relatively easy to get around by public transport, to Auschwitz and the mines for example?

photos - the main square, Wawl Castle and the windows in the Franciscan church. The old Jewish quarter in Kazimierz is photogenic, and then go over the river to Podgorze, the new ghetto the Nazis moved the Jews into. The main square there has a set of evocative scultures of metal chairs that symbolise the furniture people had to throw away. We never made it to Auschwitz but you'd get good photos there too.


meals - save up and go to Ancora, a michelin quality (but not price) restaurant in the Old Town - absolutely fantastic.

I loved Krakow, and am a bit of a WW2 history buff. Make sure you head out to Plaszow concentration camp. The memorial monument is unbelievable.

Restaurants all nice and authentic. Wierzynek is oldest one and very elagant. Depend how much money you like to spend and what food you like. Krakow is so beautiful with old architecture, and olso some castles around. You should visit Zakopane /2hours comfortable ride by bus/.See some information on our site
