Koufonissia, Cyclades, Greek Islands

Has anyone ever visited this tiny Cycladic Island in Greece? We're going in early September and wonder if there is enough to see and do to keep us occupied and engaged for five nights. If you've been there, any dining, sights and attractions, recreation or sightseeing tips would be greatly appreciated!

William, a friend of a friend (a Greek) just sent me this email:  

I've never been to Koufonisia personally, but I've heard it's amazing. More on the secluded side than the cosmopolital side, amazing beaches and kind of "untouched" by tourists etc. 

That certainly doesn't give you the dining/sightseeing tips you need, but it does seem to indicate that five days here would either be a delightful trip back to the pre-Mykonos etc. era, or it would be a bore -- all depending upon the individuals.

Thank you Ed! We're viewing it as an adventure to do nothing but completely indulge ourselves in beach trekking and eating. Sounds like we'll have no problem doing either! I also heard there are 1) no cars; 2) no paved roads 3) no ATMs 4) no one takes credit cards. Yes, almost the stone age relative to the rest of Greece!

Just got another missive from that friend of a friend, who says:

Andria, Koufonisia is a complex of a few very small islands in the greater group of the Cyclades islands. There is a dry and treeless paradise. People there go mainly with their big yachts and enjoy fresh fish, extremely clear waters, and unique human communication. Visitors there can get to know each other and enjoy meeting people from different places from all around the world. There is a place to meet the local villagers hanging around with tycoons who come with their mega yachts. If your friend does not want to deeply relax and enjoy wildness on a remote island Koufonisia is not the place to be. There are people who went there and wanted to leave in the next minute and on the other side there are people who went there for a couple of days and they stayed for two months.

Hi again, well this sounds like we would love it. I am in the tourism PR business and love meeting people from all around the globe and my partner is very gregarious, too! We love the beach, reading and, of course, good Greek food. We went last year to Milos, Santorini and Paros and loved all of them, but were disappointed in Santorini, it has become a teeny bopper paradise, not for grown ups, so much! Thank you for all this information! Will update this after we get back or in real time!
