What's the weather like in Phuket Island in July and August?

Does it rain everyday?

How often does it rain?

How long does a typical rain last?

July and August are in the middle of Phuket's rainy season during the eastward migration of the monsoon winds. There's a good chance it will rain most every day, but the rain generally comes in the form of severe thunderstorms that come up in the late afternoon. It may rain for as little as five minutes or as long as an hour.

Michael is right. I've been there twice, once in "winter" and once in "summer." During the rainy season visit the rain did last all day once, but mostly it was just part of the day -- and heavy. When it wasn't raining, it was cloudy, and the mid-afternoon and early morning temperatures felt almost the same (mid-80s and humid). I say, postpone that trip until December, if possible.

I was in Phuket last July. It was hot! But that is ok on the ocean. When it rains it is a huge downpour, but we did not ever have it last for long. Over my five days I do not remember it interfering with my good time at all.

All I can say is with changing weather patterns around the world, one just never knows. No matter where or when you go, don't count on good weather as a requirement to your vacation.

The rainy season is from May to October. The influence of the southwest monsoon winds blow over the sea. There is less rain in June, July and August although the rainy season does not mean that it will rain all day long. The accommodation will be at lower rate. Also, travelling during July and August need to keep track of news, weather, wind waves regularly. You may experience rough seas. For scuba diving; one of the best dive spot, the Similans islands, are close from May - October....most of the dive operator closes down too.
