Florence, Italy - hotel/dining/other suggestions, please?

I plan to visit my niece in Florence. Any suggestions as to where I can stay that's reasonable and VERY clean? My trip will be in June of this year. Thanks!

For how long are you staying? florence is very nice but I would have jump to Tuscany as well.

I'll only be there for about five days.  I do plan to drive to Tuscany.  I hear the medieval fair is a site to see.

yes you must go to Seina and villages around. 2 day for Florence is enough. I is very nice but the same as Rome, Verona ect. I prefer Tuscany as to wine, restaurants and nature.

hope you enjoy. Take a glance in my site for further information about Italy - www.seekatrip.com

I got more of a fix on that restaurant I'd mentioned to you! It is indeed called Otello, and it's at Via degli Orti Oricellari, 36r; tel. 055 21 58 19, closed Tuesdays. It's right near Santa Maria Novella train station.

Re lodging, I often prefer to opt for apartments over hotels/B&B's for various reasons, including cost, privacy, feeling more like you're living like a local, etc.  One site I've heard good recommendations about is http://www.apartmentsflorence.it, which lists nice flats from 65 euros a night.

As more comes to me, I'll post!

Thank you, David!  I'll put this one on my list!

Hi Dina,

We always take our guests to the San Lorenzo Mercato Centrale, a famous market for foodies in Florence.

Have a look in our website for useful food info on Tuscany and Florence- http://www.flavoursholidays.co.uk/cooking-holidays-in-italy/tuscany....

Cheers!

I really appreciate this.  Will visit your site for all the insider tips.

A million thanks!

Dina

Try Cibreo restaurante at Via del Verrocchio. It is rather unique, they do not offer a printed menu, the hostess sits  down and explains the specials of the day. The fare is fresh and uniquely local.

Thank you.  It's now on my to-do list!

Ciao Dina, maybe it is too late for my reply...however check out deliciousitaly.com for some fine places to stay in Florence and italy, hope this helps, Best wishes :-)
