ISO Sunny Latin American Destination w/Springlike Weather in Sept/Oct.

Montevideo has been getting press from International Living as best place to retire due to its springlike climate among other things though it looks a bit rainy and chilly to me so I have ruled it out. I spend time in Jamaica and want to rent an apartment somewhere in September or October to escape the hurricane season and extreme heat. I had thought maybe Uruguay or somewhere in Columbia. BA's weather also looks too cool. So... am hunting to find a place with springlike mostly sunny weather in early autumn, little or no pollution, a setting with easy walking to restaurants and cafes and historical buildings or stunning views an restaurants to walk to. What think?

I've heard great things about Medellín, Colombia, which because of its fresh Andean valley climate has been dubbed the "city of eternal spring." The bad drug stuff is well behind it, and these days the city's actually been known for its progressive leadership. Nightlife, dining, and culture are supposed to be good -- again, this is what I've heard, because although I've traveled a bit in Colombia, this has not yet included Medellín. Worth looking into, though! You might want to ask some of the folks in our Colombia group. Please let us know what you end up deciding!
One of my favorite places in Latin America: Guanajuato, Mexico. Due to its altitude, it's got that perfect "eternal spring" weather, and the city is a splendid Spanish Colonial playground for the senses. Sound over the top? I LOVE THE CITY!!
Aha! Good, I had read some years ago about a place such as that and Guanajuato rings that colonial bell. Thanks Max.
Ecuador has great weather most of the year. During rainy season it is warm in the morning, rains in the afternoon, and cools down at night. Quito and Cuenca are colonial while the beach and the mountains are an experience in native culture. Places are cheap to rent and if you look at Cumbaya, the valley outside of Quito, you can find some great places. Let me know if you have any questions!
Valparaiso,Chile might just be the place. Actually you could choose to live in Viña del Mar which is kind of like suburb of Valparaiso. If you love fresh seafood, this is the place to be. The weather is mild and restaurants are plentiful. If you are a wine lover, chilean wines are excellent. The only downside is if one does not speak or understand spanish.
That's a great link for travelers to see monthly weather averages.
Many thanks.
Now that I have such a cornucopia of destinations to retreat to for a month from my lovely Jamaica's worst hurricane month of October I can begin my research.
I shall rule out anywhere that has too much pollution which probably means too big of a city, any place too modern as I want to feast my eyes on colonial architecture while I stroll the cobblestones (i want to be able to walk out for dinners), good food and wine is also my mandate as a holiday is a holiday.
Then I will need to find a nice and comfortable apartment with opening windows for fresh air, a view and maybe even a terrace and I'll be set.
