I have a client with the following request -- I've been to Paris once, and don't know where to start on this one:

'I'm looking for a smaller hotel in more of a cute residential area."

Help! And thanks,

Julie

I can't recommend any one hotel, but if you are looking for a "cute residential" arrondisement/neighborhood, then I would start looking in the Marais (3rd and 4th) and Isle Saint Louis which is, as my French friend describes it, bucolic, but wonderfully so. Then I'd check in Montmarte (which is in the 18th) crossing over into the 19th near the park of Buttes Chaumant. The 18th and 19th are further, but not far, from the center of Paris, so it also depends on how much metro riding or taxi taking they want to do.

Of course, if they are spendy, then I'd look in Saint-Germain (6th).

so much depends on your budget ,,,,!  age and more...

True. This is a middle=aged couple celebrating their honeymoon. They want nice but not necessarily spendy. The airfare already has them gasping.

Budget and amenities will really determine any reccommendations.  There are a lot of boutique hotels in the city - some you may share a bathroom down the hall, others totally upscale.  need more info on your clients.

Thank you, Jess. I'm very pleased with the great responses here, and I think I have the recommendations to begin researching this for my clients. (And I'd already decided they need a private bathroom, considering the circumstances. <grin>)

I appreciate everyone's input

This is a terrific hotel if it's in your clients' budget.   Great location, great transportation, so easy to walk from here to there.

Hotel des Arts!    The rooms are small (typically Left Bank) but the service is first rate and it's so close to the Luxembourg Garden for very romantic picnics.

I know a nice hôtel called "Saint Paul Le Marais" in the center of Paris.

Hi Julie,

there is another Saint Paul hotel that is in the heart of the Latin Quarter / Left Bank, off Saint Germain Blvd and Saint Michel...a great and typical area for 'first timers".

26 rooms charming boutique hotel...my favorite in the 3-star category in an area that you can't beat.

Also, you may check my web site www.FranceCountryTours for some package ideas in the French capital.

Feel free to contact me directly should you have any questions.

Hello, Julie.

How long will they be staying in Paris?  There are other good options for longer stays (two weeks or more) at a much lower cost per day.

Julie -

Hi, does she know which arrondisement she would prefer?  And the Date - which is probably the most important at this point.
