Hey everyone,

My wife and I are trying to plan a somewhat affordable trip to Floripa in January. We would love some advice on travel packages anyone has had success with. I surf and she is looking to learn.

Any help would be great.

Thanks!

Try Brazil Ecojourneys, based in Floripa.

Brazil is not cheap at the moment as the Real is strong and dollar and euro weak.

If you intend to stay put in Floripa and no where else, you could cobble together a travel plan by yourself. It takes some time researching the various options, but with various comparision shopping sites for flights and hotels your major issues are taken care of. Dont forget USP holders require a visa for Brazil, and has to be obtained before hand, or you will not board the plane.

The time of the year you are choosing to visit Florianopolis is peak summer.   It is the busiest month of the year.   Therefore hotels, pousadas and service providers take advantage of this.  There is more demand than offer.  Please inform how much you are intending to spend per day with accommodation so I inform you if that is a realistic figure for the time of the year.   You can expect hotels to have rates per person sharing a double room with breakfast and taxes included starting at US$ 65.

If you want an affordable holiday in Brazil you should try and travel during low season.  As Ariane Janer informed the Brazilian Real is strong at the moment against the US$ and Euro.

If you are from New Zealand or from Europe most country citizens do not require a visa to visit Brazil.   US, Canadian and Australian citizens do require due to reciprocity issues.
