We will be in Barcelona for New Year's Eve and I wondered what we should plan to do?

You lucky people!  There are endless choices, it would help to narrow it down to what your likes and disklikes are.  Disco or symphony? Dinner, dancing or both?  And so forth....

Nice to have so many choices!  It's my husband and I and our two daughters 19 and 22.  We love music, food, dancing, meeting people.  It doesn't sound like we'll be lacking...

I was in Barcelona for "Nochevieja" (also known simply as Fin de Año) about 3 years ago and in a city that likes to party on an average Tuesday night, you can imagine that there's a million and one things to do, depending on your tastes.  One of the biggest deals in town is at the Poble Espanyol complex on Montjuic hill (http://www.nocheviejabarcelona.com/). More intimate and/or sedate options abound in most upscale restaurants and clubs, some theaters - and of course being out on the Plaza de Catalunya and Ramblas below it as the clock chimes 12 is the local version of NYE in Times Square on a slightly smaller but not less enthusiastic scale. By the way, as in the rest of Spain, it's tradition to eat 12 grapes at midnight - one for each chime of the clock.

You can check into plenty of other options in the many local "what's on" publications in English or with sections in English. But frankly, whatever you opt for, it's hard to go wrong on this night in BCN.  Have fun!!
